Why Do I Say These things by Johnathan Ross

This is not a good book in the strictest sense. The writing is not very good or professional and there a lot of things that are repeated but then that does not ruin it at all. There is something, in fact, wonderfully natural about it. Nothing in it is forced or over-edited and that makes it really enjoyable. It reads like a tape script of a conversation you have had with a friend and that is really great. There so many celebrity stories that you read and which you can tell that have had no hand in writing at all. Johnathan Ross is not a writer and that comes through in the book but it is for the better not the worse because you know that the story you are reading is his story not the one that someone has taken from what he has told them.
There is nothing pretentious about Why Do I Say These Things? it is very honest and sometimes so honest that it make you cringe a bit and sometimes a lot. There is once instance of wart removal cream on an unpleasant spot that had more of an effect than other things. The book is full of opinion and none of it is held back or apologised for which I think is a really good thing. I may not agree with him on everything but I respect the fact that he says it without worrying about who he offends. That might sound strange but people cannot express themselves fully if they are constantly worried about what other people might think and in this case will it stop people buying the book. Controversy is a good selling point but it is not so loud as to cause it so I feel like it is just plain old freedom of speech.
I don't know what to say really that will sum it up. This is a book that would never have been published if it was not written by Jonathan Ross but I am glad someone did.
