WHEN YOU LOOK AT ME
March 7th 2007 07:47
When you look at me
who is it that you see
do you really see me
all of me...the real me
or just the façade
created to protect
my wounded soul?
who is it that you see
do you really see me
all of me...the real me
or just the façade
created to protect
my wounded soul?

I like this poem ...
It begs so many questions ...
The main one is:
Why put up the facade? ... Why not bare your soul? ...
How else are people going to see the real you, if you bury it so deep inside of you? ...
And if people start hurting you again? Lash out at the pricks ... For there will come a day when someone will accept the whole you (lashing out and all) but only if you bare the whole you ... I call it 'the risk of living and being true to yourself' ...

There is a danger in exposing yourself to people as it opens you up to hurt and people seem to see that as an excuse for abuse....they are the ones that the facade is created for and I think they are the ones that you need to avoid because they wouldn`t really care about the real you anyways.

I guess the right person would see through the facade, dont you think each of us has a "social face" that we present to the world to be presentable? That was what I was kind of getting at, the right person would see the real me.... The facade is sort of like a costume, easily removed... ... if that makes sense?

Especially here. In the blog bubble.
We 'wear' different faces to adapt to different situations. Essentially, you're still you.
...does that make any sense...?
The right person wouldn't just see the 'real' you...with the right person, you'd just be You. Right?

Beautiful articulated as always......
I guess what I meant at the time, was that if the right person met me when I was wearing one of my many masks they would see right through the mask to the real me...but with hindsight, maybe not...I would have to let a little of the real me show.......
thanks..
