Thought for today - 23rd of July, 2006

July 23rd 2006 22:42

Another day dawns upon me and as the thought for today, I thought I'd talk about "the afterlife"...

For over 15 years I was totally convinced that once I died, I'd float up to heaven and live in eternal bliss. But now as I have renounced my previous faith in Xianity, I am more inclined to think that once I die, I'll enter the eternal bliss of "nothingness". Nothingness, non-existance.

I think this is a difficult concept for some to grasp. The idea that we become "nothing". Logically speaking, this is the best conclusion to "life" we have so far. There is no evidence for anything other than nothingness after we die.

I guess many people believe otherwise - and it's a reasurring thing to think that there's something more after this life. But until I can see some proof for otherwise, I'll stick to my nothingness theory.

It is quite a sad thought though, that after 60, 70, 80, even 1 or 2 or 20 years of existence, it all comes to nothing in the end. If I had made the rules for "life" I would've made a much more fitting end. I'd make it so that you could experience all that you would ever wish for, for a certain amount of time before you enter non-existence. So, for 20 or so years, you could fly around relive past memories, visit historical pasts - see for yourself what really went on, and what really goes on.

I've always been the type of person that wants to know what things are really about. For example, with 9/11... I was fascinated to learn that perhaps it was an inside job. Now you may think - "god, I regret reading this now, this guy's one of those conspiracy wackos"... Hey, but if you did some research and some logical thinking, you'd be fascinated to learn too about just how much you know about "life" and what goes on. And with my ideal "death" you'd be able to go back and find out about everything for yourself... That would be sweet...

Hmmm I'm not gonna ramble on about "conspiracies" and "truths" in this post, cause I've come to realise that though thinking and learning about such things are stimulating, they don't really help you get anywhere. When I found out about the possibilities of 9/11 - I thought, "Oh no, I don't want to live in a world where this is the reality..." and I stressed and stressed about it for days... But in the end, I came to the same conclusion I had to reach when I had problems about living - not wanting to be a part of a world that I didn't create, or had no choice in creating or even being a part of...

People say you can change the world. This may be true to a certain degree... but in the end, you cannot change the basics, the fundamentals of life... Hence it is better to think about how you can master the basics and manipulate them to your advantage, rather than fighting against and trying to change it - which is impossible.

Ever heard of the "illuminati theory"? It's a "conspiracy theory" that a handful of powerful men rule the world. I want to be a part of those guys... if they exist, that is. If they control the world, instead of fighting them, why not try to join them or even conquer them? The only thing I'd change is that I'd get some women on that team~ World would probably run a lot smoother if there were some there... : )

Hmmm that just makes me think again... How fun it would be to be able to fly around and find out if such theories are actually truths... There's so much information out there - and just not enough time to learn or understand all of it...

That's my thought for today - so go out and digest some information while you have time...

hey,

LoL i was just going to tell you that I think you think too much about these things.. but then I reminded myself that that was the point in your blog - thinking alot!

Not knowing what happens after you die adds to the thrill of life and makes you appreciate things around you.. Sure there are theories, but noones ever come back from the dead to tell the world what happens. It would be interesting if the afterlife was to reflect back on memories and see what really happened while you were alive from another perspective, but really what is the point. What is the significance of knowing truth when you're on your own? Sounds kinda spooky, sorta like becoming a ghost..

I say, relinquish all these thoughts and enjoy what life has to offer you. You only live on earth for say an average of 80 - 90 years. Thats approximately 31000 days.

If we were certain that there was nothing after life, imagine how different our lives would be. We just would not bother doing anything to have fun, we would not appreciate life and there would just be no point to our exhistence.
