Backpacker watches Pete inject
A SYDNEY backpacker claims drug-addicted singer Pete Doherty injected cocaine in her Thai hostel room - then used her mobile phone to call his supermodel girlfriend Kate Moss.
Traveller Jess Lea, 21, says Doherty, in Phuket with Moss for a Buddhist blessing ceremony on New Year's Day - shot up several times as she and two friends watched.
Ms Lea had invited Doherty to the $20-a-night hostel room after bumping into the Babyshambles singer at a chemist as he bought syringes.
She told London's The Sun newspaper Doherty, 27, used her phone to call his concerned girlfriend Moss.
"He asked us if we minded. Initially we were like, 'OK go for it' but as time went on we got nervous," Ms Lea said. "Pete kept telling us Kate was paranoid and wanted to know where he was and who the girls he was with were. He kept telling her there were no girls."
One of the girls used her mobile phone to film the singer with a syringe in his hand.
Moss called Ms Lea's phone several times that night to check on her boyfriend.
"She did seem quite p...ed off ... with him constantly pleading, 'What's wrong, I love you'," Ms Lea said. She eventually tired of the drug addict's antics.
"I sent Kate a text reading: 'Dropped Peter off ... He's a bit out of sorts'."
Ok, so Peter Doherty is a mess, but as someone who has come out the other side of a massive cocaine addiction and still with other "substance abuse issues", it shits me that some skanky backpackers invite a user to their room to use, thus enabling him then take photos and give the story to the press. Very humanitarian that is. Should be more of it, might make the world a better place. That they knew "someone" was calling and concerned and didnt ensure that the person in question was removed from the premises before they got totally fucked up is a testimony to the ignorance, naievety and intelligence of the 3 girls.
I know what it is like to me dragged under by addiction, it is with you all your waking hours and in your dreams as well, your life becomes focused on getting high and getting the drugs to get high and sneaking around finding somewhere to get high so that you dont get found out. Lies, deceipt and pain and trying to fill the empty pit that used to be your solar plexus.
I lost the love of my life to drug addiction, he overdosed, survived with massive internal damage, spent two months in intensive care and then the life support was turned off. Self inflicted perhaps........he was a great guy with an unfortunate childhood that had scarred him irreperably.
I hope the backpackers in the story are a little more careful in the future, one day they might invite a junkie back to their room and the junkie trips out on ice and harms them. Get a life girls I hope by the end of your time here your contribution to the planet is more than the sum total of one shitty night in a dirty backpackers.
Anyhow......the morale of the story is, before you judge someone try walking a mile in their shoes............

No probs ... I'm a venom sponge ... (I sometimes spit back with my forked keyboard fingers ) but never when someone actually 'gets' it ... and doesn't take offence to the fact that I'm just engaging with humans in a virtual 'real' way ...
