THE THOUGHT FOR THE DAY IS................
If you don't know where you are going, you'll end up someplace else.
YogiBerra
How does one know which path to take, which way to go?

Always walk backwards, so you at least know where you've been ... - David 2007 ...

I don't know where I'm going but I sure know where I've been? What if you have memory problems and cant remember where you've been and you dont recognise it when you walk backwards?... I give up..

In all seriousness ... I think YogiBerra is referrring to the destination more so than the journey itself ... (or path) ...
And seems to be indicating to me that so few people have a specific destination in mind for the journey that is this life ... and hence the confusion as to which path to take ...
It's like that expression 'All roads lead to Rome' ... As in there's a multitude of ways to get to the same place .... but you need to pick the destination first before embarking on the journey ...
I've also seen it written, that if you don't pick the destination and just embark? ... You end up farther away from the destination and have to backtrack ...
I call it 'homework' ... As in ... sitting down ... doing pre-planning (which may involve hours of thinking ... etc ... and not moving until you've set the destination in concrete ...
My uncle has a great saying:
You'll end up like the drug addict in U2s Running to Stand Still ... I see seven towers but I only see one way out (Seven Towers is a drug rehab centre ...
Analogously? ... If my destination is a completed and polished screenplay? ... I don't just plunge head-long into it ... without thinking ... It takes a lot of pre-planning before I embark ... and I know my destination because I've done my 'homework' ...

I admire people like you who have passion about what they do and are doing what they love, I really do...
I wish I could find my passion and then I'd have a goal and something to head for.......Should make finding just what it is my mission, so it seems.....
Thanks for taking the time to write such a clear and easy to understandcomment, makes a world of sense.......
