THE THOUGHT FOR THE DAY IS................

March 1st 2007 20:59
THE THOUGHT FOR THE DAY IS……………………

If A is success in life, then A equals x plus y plus z. Work is x; y is play; and z is keeping your mouth shut.
Albert Einstein, Observer, Jan. 15, 1950

Does one really need to speak their mouth shut to have success in life?

I’m tired of biting my tongue, chewing my lips, taking a deep breath and not saying what I think…
Why isn’t it socially acceptable to be honest and forthright?

Dear Miss Nomer ...

The Truth has always been socially unacceptable ...

It always will be ...

Just say what you think ... write what's on your mind ... without fear ... (You'll gain true friends and piss off all the false ones ... [And, believe me, it's a blessing ... it's liberating ...

Believe it or not, there is a remnant of honest and forthright souls left in the world ...

They hear and recognise the voice of Truth ... and if perchance you befriend them? ... You'll have some true friends ... not false ones ...

The ones who can't stand the Truth? ... You don't want them as friends ... (they usually always betray you ...

I know you're of a different religious persuasion to me ... but I love the line in the Gospels where Christ says to Judas, "Friend, dost thou betray me with a kiss?" ...

What had Christ done to Judas? ... He invited him to be an Apostle ... a 'friend', but Judas preferred the love of money, and lying, and thieving to friendship ... (better stop ... I could go on and on about my thoughts and extra-curricular reading in relation to this ... and get accused of hypocrisy again ... *

That's about the best I can come up with ...

Dear David,

Guess that's why I dont have many friends?

I am of absolutely no religious persuasion, I follow blindly not the words of any one man or more so the twisted words of any one man translated to suit an organised religion of any kind. I prefer to take comfort and guidance in the wise words of many men who have walked amongst us from time to time, trying to remind us what is really important in this world.

I have known only a handful of true Judas', more subtle deception and betrayal seeming to be more the status quo........

thanks for the comment and sharing the words of wisdom.

Miss Nomer ...

This?:

I follow blindly not the words of any one man or more so the twisted words of any one man translated to suit an organised religion of any kind.

I've heard it a thousand times ...

I only have two responses to that kind of pseudo-qausi-philosophy:

People wonder why their lives are in such chaos when they reject order or authority of any description.

And ...

What is the one thing you do follow non-blindly? ... Your own superior, all-knowing mind? ...

St Teresa of Avila said, "Only a fool would be their own spiritual director." (She was a female okay? ...

Dear David,
I do not reject order and authority of any description, I do not follow my own mind non-blindly, maybe my life is in chaos because because I am trying to find MY way or maybe I'm a drama queen and I like chaos?

Pardon me for psuedo-quasi philosophy according to the Gospel of David the Almighty. Nothing in this world is new David, its all been done and said before and rehashed a million ways.

I choose to exercise my right to free will and its expression anyway I choose.......

Miss Nomer,

I think this is beautifully expressed and wished I had written it so concisely...

I am of absolutely no religious persuasion, I follow blindly not the words of any one man or more so the twisted words of any one man translated to suit an organised religion of any kind. I prefer to take comfort and guidance in the wise words of many men who have walked amongst us from time to time, trying to remind us what is really important in this world.

wow.

It doesn't include or preclude anyone, and yet considers ... all, without encouraging stupid, endless, mindless, debate...

Love it!
