THE ONE

March 20th 2007 00:04
Are you one of the lucky ones? Have you met the love of your life and are now leading a life of contentment and bliss? I don’t mean living in an airy, fairy, walking on water, unrealistic way, I mean happy in the knowledge that you have found the person that makes you feel whole and complete.
This of course is only applicable, if you felt like you were missing a significant other to round out your life in the first place, I guess a recluse or a monk wouldn’t have a feeling of longing for a soul mate or companion to accompany them on their life path?

Do you believe there is one special person….”the one” for each of us, or do you think it is more likely that there are many special ones for each of us to love and learn from?

What happens if you don’t recognise each other, you meet, you are distracted, and simply don’t feel or see the connection, and pass through each other’s lives without every really knowing that you were in fact “the one” for each other?

How do you know if someone is “the one” or not, what are the signs?
How on earth can you tell if one person is and one isn’t?
Some people seem to get “it” instantly, and some people tend to grow into the idea that the other is “the one”, but I have noticed that this can be one sided, this slow burn of knowing……

Let’s suppose that you living quite happily, an easy kind of existence, with someone who isn’t the one. You are very fond of them and you have made a good life together and then one day …. Boom….you bump into “the one” at the service station while filling up your car, would your eyes meet across the pumps in a knowing way, would you quickly look away, would you smile and approach them and start a polite conversation, or would you simply pay for the petrol and drive away, wistful about what may have been or making a mental note to fill up the car on a more regular basis?

Is being with someone who you don’t think is “the one”, a kind of infidelity, even if you think you wouldn’t leave them, even if you did meet “the one”.

Is not finding “the one” caused by lack of effort, opportunity, or simply that you actually wouldn’t recognise them if you tripped over them?

What happens if you do meet and fall in love with “the one”, and then one of you passes over, does that relegate the one left behind to spending the rest of their life alone, not taking a chance on love again because the feeling that no one could ever love and be as loved as the dearly departed?

I have felt that I have met “the one” a few times, two of these people have passed over and the third, as it transpired, wasn’t “the one”, but remains a friend.
I am cautiously optimistic that I will meet “the one” ….
He will be “the one” for the here and now and I’ll worry about tomorrow if and when it comes…….

Dear Miss Nomer ...

If I was in charge of an Acquisitions Department with a major Film Production Company and this Post landed upon my desk as a short treatment for a film? ... titled 'The One' ... ? ...

I would immediately call in the scriptwriters ...

The premise is there ... everything is there ... All it needs is 'fleshing out' ...

Dear Miss Nomer ...

I'm struggling to keep up with my own writing at the moment without adding another project to the list ...

Why not submit an application to some film body for funding ... attach my name ... and if they offer me some cash to write it? I'll glady do it ...

Oh ...

the ones with Producers and Writers attached have more clout apparently ... but you'd know more about that than me anyway ... I can supply you with my amazing CV if you like ...
