REGRETS ...I'VE HAD A FEW..

March 12th 2007 04:49
Regrets, I have a few but then again too few to mention.?

What do you regret? Is it possible to be an interactive human being and live your life so intentionally and with awareness, that nothing you do or say ever gives rise to any situation that could lead you to regret what you have said and done?

Things I regret can be grouped into two categories that both cover a broad spectrum of regrettable incidents.

I really regret not making the most of past opportunities, either passing on them due to fear of the unknown or failure or both, or more likely half heartedly taking them up, and not really applying myself when they were presented.

My regrets in this area are abundant and cover a wide range of missed experiences, from not spending enough time with my elderly grandparents before they died through to not appreciating and taking up or applying myself to truly wonderful career prospects when they have arisen. The regrets in this group I can honestly say come from me taking this for granted, complacency and even laziness.

I regret hurtful, thoughtless things I have done and said that have impacted negatively on others. Most of the time I wasn't even aware of the ramifications of some of my actions, and I don't know why I have done and said some of the things I have. I do have a tendency to look before I leap when I feel backed into a corner, not taking the time to weigh up the pro's and con's , do a mental stock take, projected profit and loss analysis if you like, acting with knee jerk gut reactions. I have a lock stock and barrel of regrets that fit into this category, an alarmingly large amount, although I have made amends for quite a lot, the original cause of the regret seems to stay with me, like an invisible tiny stretch mark on my soul.

Sometime I find myself regretting my regrets, if that makes sense

It seems to me that there is little I can do to erase the past regrets, all I can do for now and tomorrow and the next day and the next day, if it arrives, is to try to only say and do things that I wont regret...
