RED SHOES
April 27th 2007 09:34
This is my life
Im standing in
I hope I dont
tread on
too many toes
and lose
my shoes
the red ones
with buckles
when I tap
my heels
all the
bad things
go away.....
Im standing in
I hope I dont
tread on
too many toes
and lose
my shoes
the red ones
with buckles
when I tap
my heels
all the
bad things
go away.....

Your poem reminded me of a story called 'The Red Shoes', from 'Women Who Run With the Wolves' by Clarissa Pinkola Estes (a cantadora - keeper of the old stories). The bones of the story is this;
A little motherless girl is adopted and her new wealthy 'mother' burns her old red shoes (much loved and made of cloth scraps) and gives her a brand new shiny black pair. She is also given a new pair of red shoes for her confirmation, though the mother didn't know they were red for her eyesight was poor. At the church, a man taps on the soles of the shoes, sings a song, and says 'Remember to stay for the dance'.
She starts to dance in them, only to find that these new red shoes dance her, not the other way around. The end of the story is not pretty, and i can send you a scanned version of the story, if you like. It's a great story, just one of many in this inspiring book.

which i love because it's simple and straight from the heart... the best kind..
what is it with adults that they take a picture of a child who wore the 'wrong' shoes to school? that just stumps me..
i'm sorry you were embarrassed like that, that is just so wrong...
forgive if i fail to convey my feelings, with mere words...
