Palin, Why??

Before Michael Jackson passed away and took over the television for 2 weeks straight, before the congressman and his Argentinian affair, there was this hoopla over a little known woman from Alaska, Sarah Palin. Before the decrepit McCain had announced her as his running mate for the 2008 election, the average person and non-republican had never heard of this woman. She has been praised as being a courageous person for juggling kids, her career as newly appointed Governor, and her tenacity for going after big spenders!! Big whoop. Women do it everyday, maybe not as Governor, but still, with less than she has to work with and have done so for hundreds of years. From the time of her acceptance for the candidacy as VP, it's been non-stop coverage of her from her eye glasses designer to her clothing style, from her special needs child to her pregnant teen, even from her 'Joe Six Pack' to her 'Shaking Things Up' attitude. The republican party and women all over the country swore they had a shoe in for office by not only selecting a female candidate, but also one they thought could connect with your average run of the mill American.
What we got, and I say we as in the educated hard working mothers and women, instead was a pathetic excuse for female representation for the second most powerful position in the world. If the fact that she'd never been outside of the United States wasn't a major sorry factor, then the fact that she could not speak intelligently should have been the nail in the coffin! I was flabbergasted by her speeches, I was disgusted with her attempts to speak to the public as if we were dumb schmucks (Joe Six Pack, what the hell?), and annoyed with hers and the GOPs constant attempts to persuade me that she had the credentials to be the next in charge over our country because she canceled a failed 'Bridge to Nowhere' project that she spearheaded before it became a shamble. It was as if I was being sold on the idea that 'HEY, SHE"S A WOMAN, VOTE FOR HER, SHE'S A WOMAN, VOTE FOR HER'. When she couldn't even recite the names of any major political magazines she enjoyed reading, besides hunting/fishing mags, that should have been a clue to the American people, especially women, that she was a dud.
Now, with all being said and done, even after McCain's people pointing fingers at her camp for drowning the Republican's chances for 2008, she has finally decided to step down. People are in shock, some in awe of this decision and one would think that she will do the world a favor and disappear back into doing whatever is is someone like her does in their spare time, but noooo!!! Now, even more so, people are still intrigued by this moron. Women, conservative women especially, seem to cling to her as is she is the all knowing! Conservative men praise her ability to stand toe to toe with the likes of Washington D.C. and world leaders, but these same people don't seem to want to recognize her shear stupidity, ignorance, and just utter 'DUHness' to things going on outside of Alaska!
Her rambling speech, if it can and should be called this, was beyond embarrassing to watch and or to follow coherently. Her inferences to her basketball playing days in college were confusing and ill placed, her repetition of nonsense was bewildering, and her whole demeanor gave the impression that she was stepping down from the PTA instead of as an elected official of the United States Government. She says she wants to stay out of the limelight for the sake of her family, but as I recall her family was always in the limelight with her. God knows when did her kids ever go to school since they were always being dragged around with her political camp during the election? And lets not even begin to talk about her knocked up and unwed teen daughter. Now, I realize that there are plenty of pregnant and unwed teens out there, and there are plenty of single Mothers. Hell, I'm a single mother. But being a daughter of a supposed devout Christian fanatic who has espoused her dislike for contraceptives being given out in schools, who strongly believes in marriage, and who would more than likely bomb an abortion clinic in a heartbeat if she could get away with it??? I still don't understand that whole ordeal. It was like the message was that it's okay for her child to be a responsible pregnant teen who's going to marry her baby's father and possibly get her GED or even go further and get her real high school diploma, but everyone else is just plain promiscuous.
Mrs. Palin had a lot of harsh and disturbing words for her opponents during the campaign. None of which she's ever apologized for, even when making the generalization that President Obama was a possible terrorist because of the similarity of his name to Osama Bin Laden! But now that some have turned against her in her beloved state of Alaska, now that Letterman has made some jokes about her kids (like he's the only one to joke about a political figure's children), and now that investigations begin and continue into her spending habits as Governor, she has punked out and shown that she can dish it with the best of 'em, but can't take a lick of it in return! I mean c'mon, we all know that it's the liberal, Obama supporting, gay loving, ruin America's moral fabric media that has bullied her into surrender, right?! And to think, she could have possibly been the next in line to make major decisions for a country! Scary thought. Just think of what she would have done if another country's media facet had ridiculed her as VP? Thank God we'll never know...

But she's a dumb schmuck, so that's 'normal talk' for her. I doubt that she would even see it as a problem ....
Their ignorance is amazing and I reckon that's why they're so scared and hostile - they see the negative reaction from the non-republicans but don't really know why? So they get hostile.
And one would have thought after Dubya that their next choice would have been a little more formidable. But they always seem to get childlishly caught up in irrelevant details and inconsequentia.
As we say in OZ, what a load of tools!!!
(which says a lot about our own ex-Prime Minister Howard, who followed Bush around like a dog sniffing his arse - which was actually represented in a classic paper-mache puppet made by some of our 'liberals' in an anti-war demonstration.
I still laugh when I think about.
