IS THAT OPPORTUNITY KNOCKING OR MY KNEES?

OPPORTUNITY
1. a chance, especially one that offers some kind of advantage
2. a combination of favourable circumstances or situations.
Albert Einstein once said…
“In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity….
I do believe opportunity comes to all of us, in one way or another. Most of us just don’t recognise it for what it is, being caught up in the day to day grind of getting by. Others, like so many acquaintances of mine, seem to have a knack, a real art for recognising opportunities and making the most of them when they present themselves, elbows out, head down, off they go full speed ahead.
An opportunity is literally “a chance to progress or advance” and such opportunities will impact on a persons whole life, all areas of their experience.
I often wonder what has stopped me from seizing opportunities that have arisen in my life. I have in fact at times, formed the opposite opinion, convinced myself that these situations could in fact work against me rather than lead to anything constructive or fulfilling. Could it be that I am more afraid of change than I let on, to even myself? Scared to get ahead because I dont know where I am going?
Not prepared to take what I perceive to be a risk of not succeeding, happy in my complacency?
I read somewhere that Opportunity won’t come if you don’t really want it, so having been presented with various opportunities in my life that I have taken, I must have at these times been "putting out" into great collective consciousness that surrounds us all, the desire to change my circumstances for better or for worse?
Winston Churchill said….”the pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty.” Sounds simple, I guess I must be a pessimist as to me, the reality is that often opportunities can have a definite downside, an opposing element to them or appear that they may, so I guess it’s all relative to the current situation or experiences in the past or a pre-conception of the future that may or may not ever happen?

Reading this just makes me want to read a biography of Albert Einstein ... (which I've never done ...
I love this quote:
Why is my mind drawn to images of chasity belts upon reading it ... ? (and why do I also want to read a biography of Harry Houdini? ... *

You show great wisdom in your thoughts on opportunity, I have had heaps of them and a stack of difficulties relating to those opportunities.
My view is every upside has its downside and vice versa, I can only say it as I have witnessed it.
Right now I have difficulty, all I can perceive it as, at present, is the end of a journey, rather than the continuation of one and I am the eternal optimist.
Maybe there'll be an upside which I just can't see at present.
But I certainly understand your view and I have read quite a lot about Einstein. It helps if you have a knowledge of Physics and Mathematics at a higher level.
But Einstein was many things, not just a great scientist. When he produced his Theory of Relativity it was claimed there were only three people in the world capable of understanding it.
As I have already said, I found your post really interesting, even without Einstein.

I think I will read more about Einstein, he was a really interesting man, am sure it will be a ripping yarn and leave me with untold questions I wish I could ask him..
Houdini, Chastity Belts, your imagination is boundless...

Thanks for the comment....
I too subscribe to the upside/downside theory, and right now I too have difficulty and am trying hard to see some positives, like your journey ending approach, will borrow that if that's ok!
