IF TODAY WAS YOUR LAST DAY...HOW WOULD YOU SPEND IT?

February 17th 2007 01:11
It you knew that today was your last day alive, how would you spend it, what would you do?

I would get up early, so I could fit everything in, I would call all my friends and thank them for being there for me through all the high and lowlights of my life....I would make sure my will was updated, then I would go and have a thai massage, I would ask them to play my favourite cd while I was being massaged, I would catch a plane to visit my family, we would have a sumptuous seafood and champagne feast followed by tiramisu and sauterne, we would walk along the beach where I grew up, reminiscing. Before I went to bed I would kiss them all goodnight and tell them how much I love them. I would go to bed in my favourite dress with my special occasion underwear on, and drift off to sleep in a cloud of my favourite perfume.........

How about you.........?

Miss Nomer ...

If I honestly knew today was going to be my last day and that I would not die until tonight? ...

I would buy a plane ticket ... completely disregard my fear of flying (well dying in a plane crash, really) ... email a woman to tell her of my flight details, and arrival time in her city ... and spend every moment of my last hours with her ...

Dear David,

She is a lucky woman indeed.....but why not treat everyday as though it may be your last?

Miss Nomer ...

I do in a certain sense ... but there is a distinction to be made between knowing for a certainty that today is your last day, and treating each succesive day as if it were to be your last ...

In my mind anyway ...

Certainties and Ifs are two distinct things ...

And therefore I treat them accordingly ... and distinctly ... as two separate things ...

When St Gerard Majella was a child, he was asked by his classmate during lunchtime recreation period, the following question:

"If you knew you were going to die at the end of lunchtime? What would you do for the next hour?"

St Gerard's reply?

"I'd keep playing, because that's what I'm meant to be doing right now."

Dear David,

Wise words from an old soul.......

If I knew what I was meant to be doing right now, I guess I'd do it?

May all your days be filled with happiness and contentment.

I know I would eat a hell of a lot of chocolate.....no need to worry about being a fatty if I was going to die that day....

Dear Tracy,

I eat a lot of chocolate everyday, but I make sure I go to the gym and earn it first! I cant believe I left it off the things I would do...It's a no brainer that one, maybe because I equate chocolate = gym?

hard to say, everyone would be too busy to come over probably... i would spend the day by myself, writing all day, saying all the things i wanted to say to everyone, but didin't... haven't... should..

Luke, you're crazy

I'd spend it like I spend any other day, bringing myself closer to god. Any day that goes by that I don't do that is a day lost for me.

Yeah, yeah, crazy religious nutcase, but I'll live and die by it.

oh, maybe in a few minutes of bitter-sweet greed I'd go email this person back in Perth and tell said person how much I loath that person.

But thats only if I lose it, ideally I'd do what I mentioned above, only god knows what I'd do, I'm still human, my ideal last day, I might crack and get really mad with everyone around me.

*sigh* I'd say life sucks, but it really doesn't.

Aah, yes.. *tisk, tisk* life never is (as good as the romantic notion) - especially family - especially mine, hence the dreaming... too true ... one thing for sure though, my children would be a part of my last day...

On second thoughts.... I would spend it with the man I love, seeing my children in the last few hours... I wouldn't go to bed that day (not to sleep), that's for sure...
