ASK MISS NOMER
February 5th 2007 03:15
To road to self-improvement can be full of pot-holes and often not well lit, dead ends, diversions and the modern day curse......roundabouts. In these trying times a kindred spirit who has negotiated the often treacherous boulevarde of human existence is a god-send, a gift from heaven.
I have so many questions, so little time? Where to begin?......
Dear Miss Nomer,
Why do I constantly self-sabotage, just when things are going well for me, I do something that sets me back, its like I dont want to be happy......
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
sincerely
Miss Nomer
Dear Miss Nomer,
My dear,
you seem you may be suffering from a case of H C/100 = D syndrome, in lay terms, the equation is Happiness plus compassion divided by 100 equals Death.
I remember when I was a younger woman, living piously and studying the words of my Lord Buddha, it came to me one day.........If I become enlightened.......then I die, this life is over!
A very confronting realisation. I put that book down and made a decision that I wasnt ready to die just yet, so many things to see, so many people to do. That knowledge has enpowered me, as it can you.....Embrace the you that is holding you back, cradle her in your arms with unconditional love. I find this mantra especially helpful, it works best if said alound.... I am not my thoughts I am the thinker, I can choose to accept or reject my thoughts.. My thoughts can only become actions if I act...I choose to act in only a positive way today....because today is all I have..........
Death is not the end.........there is no end...........only a new beginning.
I hope this helps.....
fondly

It appears that the point of this post is a subtle hint to learn how to write to yourself. *** And how to improve yourself without using self-help books or having any recourse to so-called professionals who charge exorbitant fees to tell you a complete load of crap and bullshit.
This road sign you are looking for? The one that reads: 'Self Improvement'? ... People into self-improvement are too busy making money out of others who they never really want to improve (in case they don't come back and keep paying?) to actually name a street, avenue, culdesac, road, boulevarde, circuit or close 'Self Improvement'. So I would suggest that you check the Melways or 'Whereis.com.au' ... rather than wander around the suburban streets of Adelaide looking for a street, culdesac, avenue etc ... that does not exist.
That will be $200 thanks.
Dr David?
Yes David?
You are amazing.
So, I'll see you next week, then?
Absolutely. It is money well spent.
Would you like two visits per week?
Yes please. Three if you can fit me in. Any chance I could be your only client?
No David. There are people with money out there.
Oh, okay. So two?
Yes.
You are amazing.

There once was a path
that lead to a stream
the water was pure
like a crystalline dream
Animals lived in harmony
until man came to stay
polluted the stream
scared the creatures away
If only man paused, looked
took a breath of fresh air
maybe he'd see
the answers hang in the air
Like limpid pools spinning
in sunbeams of light
offering hope where once
lived only the darkness of night
Take a moment today
pause, feel the sun on your skin
take in the beauty
without and within.

People will start to wag tongues if we keep writing poetic love odes to each other ...
in a public forum ...
especially if you sign off with a kiss ... x ...
They'll think that I'm just trying to get into your frilly nickers ... when nothing could be further from the truth ... (I'd rather you took them off ... let me wear them on my head ... and we just engaged in wild animal sex ....
Boy people misinterpret my aims on websites ... ***
Oh, the poem? ... There should be more poetry like yours on the net ....
It reminded me a lot of one of my favourite songs: Telegraph Road by Dire Straits ...

i sign all my comments with a kiss x, I like to spread the love....there isnt a enough love going round...
The poem...
to take one of your comments,
boy people misinterpret my aims on websites.....
The poem isnt a love ode to anyone.....
It was meant as an antidote, a soothing balm, a foil to counter the turmoil that lies beneath your words.
And it makes me feel all nice and warm inside when I write nice things, so maybe it is a love ode.... to ME!

When I was young and hard hurt feelings, Miss Nomer's mother always said ".......................".
I found it enormously comforting and I hope that sharing these words of wisdom enable you to pick up the shattered pieces and get on with the job at hand! x
